I was recently featured in the Life & Style Weekly, giving my take on how to rock the perfect stripes this season. With celebrities like J.Lo and Selena Gomez rocking killer stripes, this bold pattern is here to stay. It was a true honor to have them ask me my style take and I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity. When it came to doing this style interview, L&S asked me a lot of questions but of course, not all of them were published in this article. In today’s post, I want to share with you a few extra, unpublished, tips that will help you to rock stripes the right way this spring and summer. Also, at the end of the post, I’ve provided some of my favorite striped dresses for the season that you can shop, just by clicking the individual photos!
What is it about multicolor stripes that makes them a great choice right now? How do they enhance a look?
Ariana: Multicolor stripes have been seen all over the runways for this season from Missoni to Prada. The right stripes can instantly dress up your look and cause you to look uber cool with little effort.
How can you keep your look chic and not clownish?
Ariana: You can keep your look chic by wearing multicolor stripes that flatter your skin tone and shape. Also, when wearing stripes, add a solid colored blazer, shoes and accessories to pull the look together. Let the colored stripes do the talking. Adding too many colors will definitely cause you to look clownish and not classy.
Can you ever pair more than one striped piece in a look? If so, how do you do it right?
Ariana: Yes, you can pair more than one striped piece in a look! It’s a great way to spice up your wardrobe and show off your personality. The best way to wear more than one stripe is to rock them in opposite directions. For example, wearing a wide stripe horizontal blazer with smaller vertically striped dress is a great way to mix and match the pair. In addition to this look, wear solid colored shoes and accessories to pull the entire outfit together.
What advice can you offer for wearing wide stripes in the most flattering way?
Ariana: Contrary to popular belief, wide stripes are okay when worn the right way. Stay away from skin tight wide stripes as they can pull and cause you to look bigger. Overall, go for the stripe pattern that accentuates the area you want to bring the most attention too.
