Hey loves! How are you today? I hope well. While having a blast with my family in Los Angeles, I had to step away for a few days to do TV appearances and meetings, including one at E! News. Some thing I’ve learned from my parents is that in order to be successful, there will be times you will have to inconvenience yourself. That’s why on my vacation, I decided to fit in some work time. Not because I’m addicted to working (well maybe a little) but because I want to use my younger years to push and go the next level for my future, my kids, grandkids and so on.
The next thing that came to mind while traveling was, what would I wear to E! News? I’m sure you know that being presentable for an important meeting is a must, but sometimes we still have a hard time knowing exactly what’s the perfect look to go for. If that’s you, no worries, today I’m going to give you a few tips on looking your best and nailing your next meeting or interview. Let’s get to it!
- Do your research. Take some time to research the company or person you are going to meet with. Are they into fashion? Are they conservative? Are they radical? Finding out the culture of the place you will be going to will help you determine whether to tone down your look or spice it up. Because I was going to a place like E! News, I knew that I could be fashionable and wear something trendy. Now when I go to places like a local news station to do an on air interview, I usually tone down my look because of the mature and conservative audience. So it all should be based on who you are going to see, while still keeping your style true to you.
- Make sure your hair is in place. Your image tells a lot about you, so be sure to have your hair presentable and done right. This will also help with your confidence. If you feel good about yourself, you will perform better.
- Wear something that represents you. If you are in the fashion industry, and you own an accessories, shoe or clothing brand, be sure to wear at least one of your items or pieces. Whenever I go into a meeting, I wear my own brand, Superstar Nail Lacquer, on my nails. That way if the person I’m meeting with wants to see the polish, I can show them exactly how it looks on. What better person to model a product than you? You are the best representation of your brand, so be sure to show off what you’ve got. People are more likely to fall in love with your brand when you show how it’s used in person.
The tips that I gave you are what helped me to nail every single meeting. As you can see, I wore gold heels, but after the visit, I had to change into something a bit more comfortable to run around LA. Below, you will see how I transitioned this same outfit to a more comfortable boot that I could walk in for the rest of the day.
