Walk Like A Boss

When it comes to being a female boss, whether on the job or as an entrepreneur, there can be problems that arise because of your gender. Men tend to think that they know better, and other females may try to challenge your authority. I know there have been times where I was 100% right, but because other’s thought I didn’t know any better due to my gender and age, they perceived my ideas to be faulty.

Over the years, I learned 3 secrets that would cause others to trust my business sense and strategies. I’m now at a place in life where I’m confident in my decision making and leadership and I want the same for you. If you’re ready for it, keep reading for the secrets no one else will tell you.

1. Dress the part. As a leader/boss, it’s important to always look presentable. There are no such things as “days off” when you are in the office. Save those moments for home. Your image educates others on how to treat you, so if you want to be respected, then dress for respect and ultimately success. The mesh top and shorts in this post are some of my favorite “boss chic” items. As a fashionpreneur, I like to be professional but with a stylish flair.

2. Learn to speak up. If you aren’t feeling confident about a matter, learn to speak up to your employees or co-workers. Trust your gut, you are in the position of a boss for a reason!

3. Know your field. Gaining confidence in your field starts with being knowledgable. Know exactly what’s happening, who’s influencing your market, and have answers. People trust those who take time to research. When I was starting off with Superstar Nail Lacquer, I would have to present my brand to people 3x my age. At first, they looked down on me because of my age and gender, but I overcame those issues by knowing so much about my craft and field. When they tried to challenge me, I was ready with the right comeback and answers because I took the time to study.

I’m so grateful that I’ve achieved so much at a young age, and that I have the privelege of being a CEO and living the entreprenur’s lifestyle. I’m not content just to succeed for myself, though. I love to empower others and see them succeed also!
