4 Ways To Turn Lemons Into Lemonade In Biz

Blue and Orange Dress

When a situation doesn’t turn out as planned, it can be very disappointing. There was an opportunity that came my way when I first started in business. My brand, Superstar Nail Lacquer, was starting to become nationally known and we had a huge deal with a major reality TV show and network. I was so excited and had ordered hundred of bottles worth of inventory for it. The network was on board and things were going well until they called and said they no longer wanted to do the deal. I had ordered inventory and now was stuck with it. This was definitely a time when life threw me “lemons”, and it hurt. Today I want to share with you what I did to overcome this failure and get back to succeeding in my business!

  1. Journalize – After such a bad report from the network, I ran to use my journal. Instead of writing the problem, I wrote out ways to find a solution. I used my journal as a place to write my marketing ideas, dreams and goals. As I began to write things down, solutions came to mind regarding the situation and I was able to let the hurt go. I ended up creating a marketing campaign that caused our nail lacquer to go viral online and other deals bigger than the previous one began to come my way. The Success Journal is the perfect place to pen your thoughts. It’s helpful in tough times and helps to produce successful results in life.
  2. Prayer – Praying is something I have always done when things don’t go my way. It’s a time to spend with God and ask questions on the direction to go in. I’ve always been able to turn lemons into lemonade with God by my side.
  3. Talk with a mentor – A mentor is so helpful in tough times. They can see a way out in your business even when you can’t. Just because one deal or customer falls threw, that doesn’t mean the whole world is now against you. My mentor helped me see this along the way. She always encouraged me to look past the current distraction to see a better ending.
  4. Forgive – One of the feelings that come when lemons are thrown your way, is bitterness. It’s easy to get bitter because you care so much about the success of your business. The downside of this, is that it can hold you back from your next solution and marketing idea. A great way to move forward so that you can be successful is to forgive anyone or situation that offended you. Let it go and release it. That’s exactly what I did with my network deal I mentioned above. I forgave them and let it go. Once that happened, ideas and profits began to come my way in ways I couldn’t have manifested if I was hanging on to the bitterness.

I’m so grateful that I’ve achieved so much at a young age, and that I have the privelege of being a CEO and living the entreprenur’s lifestyle. I’m not content just to succeed for myself, though. I love to empower others and see them succeed also!
